After a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, a parade of Oscar winners returned to the Cannes red carpet to attend the world's leading film festival. India has been named the 'country of honor' during the prestigious Marche du Cinema, which will take place from May 17 to May 28. Six Indian films will be officially exhibited this year, with actress Deepika Padukone joining the Cannes film festival's top jury.

On Tuesday, the sparkling night began with the premiere of 'Final Cut,' a comic love letter to filmmaking and Z-list zombie films from the crew behind the Oscar-winning movie 'The Artist.'

India is the center of attention during the 75th Cannes Film Festival. A team from India, led by I&B Minister Anurag Thakur, walked the red carpet on the first day. R Madhavan, Ricky Kej, Vani Tripathi, Shekhar Kapur, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Prasoon Joshi represented India alongside Thakur.

Aside from them, Rajasthani singer Mame Khan drew a lot of attention at the Cannes Film Festival 2022, as he was the first Indian folk musician to walk the red carpet on Tuesday.

Khan has performed in various popular Bollywood films, including 'No One Killed Jessica,' 'Luck By Chance,' and others. The musician flaunted his Indian ancestry on the red carpet, clad in traditional Rajasthani garb.

"It's always an honor to return to this magnificent festival to both screen my own work and be inspired by many of the world's best artists — and I'm very thrilled to be acknowledged as part of the festival's historic 75th-anniversary celebration."

The 60-year-old was nominated for best actor at Cannes 34 years ago for his role as Charlie Parker in Clint Eastwood's 'Bird.'

Bollywood beauties Deepika Padukone, Urvashi Rautela, and Tamannaah Bhatia drew a lot of attention on the red carpet at the glitzy film festival, as the ladies walked the red carpet in sparkling costumes.

Tamannaah Bhatia chose a bubble hem Gauri & Nainika gown with a trail for her first red carpet appearance at Cannes. With dramatic eye make-up and hefty gleaming jewelry, the actress looked lovely. Shaleena Nathani dressed as the star's red carpet.

The president spoke at length about the connection between movie and reality during his virtual speech, citing films like Francis Ford Coppola's 'Apocalypse Now' and Charlie Chaplin's 'The Great Dictator' as influences.

Romain Duris and Bérénice Bejo feature in Michel Hazanavicius' French version of the 2017 Japanese drama "One Cut of the Dead." The zombie comedy follows a group of people who are remaking the original film. According to sources, the picture garnered a standing ovation following the viewing, which lasted nearly four minutes.

Despite its charm and allure, Cannes has not forgotten Ukraine, which is embroiled in a conflict with Russia. With President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy giving a virtual address at the gala opening ceremony on Tuesday, the film festival is paying special attention to the situation in the war-torn country.

"Will film remain silent or speak up? Everything depends on our solidarity if there is a dictator if there is a struggle for freedom. Can film remain separate from this unity?" "Chaplin's dictator did not eliminate the real dictator," Zelenskyy continued, "but thanks to cinema, thanks to this film, cinema did not remain silent."

The conflict in Ukraine is likely to be a constant presence at Cannes. Russians with ties to the government are not allowed to attend the festival. Several films by well-known Ukrainian filmmakers will be screened, including Sergei Loznitsa's documentary 'The Natural History of Destruction.'

"Every day, hundreds of people die. They won't stand up after the applause at the end "According to Zelenskyy.
